Tuition: $24  Materials: $10

Participate in a Swedish tradition for lighting the winter nights. In this class, we will create “islyktor” (ice lights), with natural decorations in our creations. Some of our creations may be used to brighten the street side of the Folk School during the Winter Festival, depending on outdoor temperatures. Warning: you may be exposed to a few Swedish words if you join this class.

This class is recommended for anyone over age 12, preferably those aged 12-18 years old accompanied by an adult.

Optional: Students may want to bring ice cream pails and other plastic containers with a steady upwards taper such as cool whip tubs and yogurt containers if available.

About the Instructor: LynnAnne Vesper has a long-standing interest in Scandinavian languages and cultures going back to 1984. She speaks Swedish fluently. She has been helping people enjoy the natural world for over 20 years as a guide for canoe and dogsledding trips in the Boundary Waters.
