Tuition: $42 Materials: $17
Pyrography is derived from the Greek words for fire (Pur) and writing (Graphos). This art form is very old, with the first known pyrography items appearing before the first century. If you are interested in trying this ancient craft, this class is a great place to start. If you can hold a pen, you have the potential to become a woodburner. All it takes is a little patience.
Join our class and immerse yourself in the cozy campfire-esque aroma as you learn the art of woodburning through hands-on experience. During this class, you will have the opportunity to create your own art pieces to take home with you; they'd also make perfect holiday gifts (for yourself or a loved one). All materials will be provided for you, which includes wire woodburning tools (a step up from solid tip woodburning tools), and an assortment of other necessary tools. Students will select pre-chosen artwork that will be carbon copied on the wood pieces before burning art onto the wood.
This class will teach beginners the basics of woodburning, but it's also suitable for those who already have some experience. The instructor will offer help tailored to your skill level.
This class is open to all ages. Students under 18 must have a guardian present. The accompanying guardian does not have to register for the class, but they are welcome to do so if they'd like.

About your instructor: Kelly Cramer moved to Ely in 2023. She's an artist specializing in woodburning. She's passionate about crafting unique pieces and fostering creativity in others through classes and workshops. Her work reflects a deep reverence for nature, and her favorite subjects to create are animals. While she's focused on woodburning, other art mediums she's explored include drawing, painting, graphic design, photography, writing, string art, and macrame.
Note: Be aware we may cancel class if a minimum number of registrations is not reached. We work to balance teachers’ need to plan for a class with students’ busy schedules — not an easy task. Please register as early as possible!
