About your instructor: Sharee Johnson has always been an artist, but made a detour to study computer science and physics. You can see a nod to those disciplines in her silversmith work which plays on suspension and negative space. She spent many years in Wisconsin developing software for the Wisconsin DNR prior to moving with her husband to Ely in 2004. Since moving to Ely, Sharee has made her way back to art by exploring many mediums – painting, silversmithing, sewing, and cooking. She studied silversmithing under a master silversmith in Taos, New Mexico and has won best of show awards for the quality and unique design of her work. She also enjoys teaching others how to be creative with sewing – she recycles and upcycles clothes and textiles into interesting pieces of clothing or accessories. She loves to watch students learn new skills and guides them in interpreting the assignments in their own way. In Sharee's free time she enjoys cooking, foraging, fishing, camping, and reading.
