Join the Ely Folk School in a celebration of spring with live music and a bonfire at Semer’s Beach! We’ll set up the yard games, all you need to do is tell your friends and swing on by!
New this year is an invitation to participate in this event POTLUCK STYLE, and bring a batch of homemade hand pies to share. You can sign up for one of two FREE pie crust and hand pie making tutorials offered by our resident pie instructor and board member, Lacey Squier. (The live online class is on Saturday, April 19, and the in-person demonstration is on Saturday, May 3). While Ely Folk School volunteers will still be assembling our classic wild rice hand pies at Makers Morning on May 1 (all are welcome), we can never make enough to meet the demand. As such, we are inviting members of the community to take the free hand pie class and bring a batch to share at the bonfire. Please be sure to label your hand pies with all ingredients.

This annual event falls each May the Wednesday prior to our favorite holiday - Fishing Opener! We love being able to enjoy the start of the season with you all before summer enters full swing.
This is a free event, but we will be looking for goodwill donations to help us cover the costs of the band, park rental, and liquor license.
