Animal Tracks: The Wonder and the Why (CANCELED)

Description

Wednesday and Thursday, December 11 and 12, 2024
6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Tuition: $48

This class focuses on the basic information one needs to accurately identify tracks and communicate with other trackers: 1) The terminology used in today’s tracking texts, and 2) The basic foot morphology of common animal groups, including hooved mammals, non-hooved mammals, and birds.

At the end of the class, participants will be able to: 1) Identify clear or partial tracks that they might find, and 2) Explain how and why they arrived at their conclusion. We will use life size animal track stencils and casts of animal tracks collected in the wild as aids in our learning.

This class is excellent preparation for upcoming snow tracking outings Steve will be offering later this winter.

About your instructor: Steve Engel has earned a Level III in Track & Sign Identification with the Certified Wildlife Trackers Association (CWTA). He has been studying and collecting tracks from Alaska to Antarctica since 1981.
