*Sliding Scale Tuition
Standard Tuition: $25
Supporting Tuition: $40
Supported Tuition: $5

We recognize that not all our class prices are accessible for our whole community, and this system allows folks to choose how much they pay for a class. Using a sliding scale helps us work toward our belief in economic justice and accessibility of folk education. Potential students will be able to evaluate their financial capacity and choose one of three payment levels.

Is your child creative? Creative kids love to sew and make fun things. Join the Ely Folk School and sign your kid up to learn the fun, lifelong skill of sewing. All of the Creative Kids Sewing classes are designed for kids aged 8-12yrs old. This class is designed for students who have never used a sewing machine before and includes a basic introduction to the sewing machine. This class is still appropriate for kids with some prior sewing machine experience. The Ely Folk School will work to pair the child with an experienced adult sewer to help with sewing and for parts of the lessons that will include ironing and using needles.

Make a pair of cool and comfy lounge pants this winter! Sewing a pair of pants is a nice easy project for beginner sewers.

*Experienced sewers may bring their own sewing machine, with the machine manual to class.

Classes inspire and teach children how to sew, using step-by-step directions, and simple language. Once kids learn a few basic skills, they’ll be eager to try their hand at all kinds of sewing projects. If a child wants to participate in class and does not have an adult available, please reach out to the Ely Folk School at info@elyfolkschool.org and we will pair the child with an adult sewer from Ely's local quilt guild to help! If an adult is attending with the student, you only have to register the youth - the adult will not count as an attendee! This program offered with a sliding scale tuition of $5-$40 thanks to funding support from ARAC and a variety of donors.

*Be sure to check out all of our sewing classes!
