5:30 PM
Suggested donation of $10 per person
The Ely Palestine Solidarity Group welcomes you to a screening of Where the Olive Trees Weep, a 2024 film that investigates “the struggles and resilience of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation. It explores themes of loss, trauma, and the quest for justice. We follow, among others, Palestinian journalist and therapist Ashira Darwish, grassroots activist Ahed Tamimi, and Israeli journalist Amira Hass. We also witness Dr. Gabor Maté offer trauma-healing work to a group of women who were tortured in Israeli prisons.”
We hope you will join us to learn more about the Palestinian struggle for liberation, to grieve the enormity of the devastation they have endured, and to discuss what to do with those learnings in terms of practical applications.
The movie will start at 5:30 (run time 1h 44m) followed by a discussion. Tea and a light snack will be provided post-screening. Sliding scale fee, proceeds go directly to families via the PAL Humanity Initiative. Suggested minimum donation: $10.
