Ice Fishing 101

Description

Saturday, December 13, 2024
1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Tuition: $36  Materials: $5

*Sliding Scale Available

Participants for this class will meet at the Ely Folk School and then drive to a local lake to try our luck for Northern Pike. Northern are a good place to start when learning to ice fish. They are mean, slimy, aggressive predators. They can also grow to giant proportions but even if when small will put up a good fight. Northern fishing requires the least amount of equipment, making it an ideal entry point for the sport.

You will learn more than just how to rig a hook. We will also talk about habitat and behavior. You will end the day with confidence that you could go out on your own and be in a good position to catch some fish. Participants should come dressed in warm layers in order to be comfortable outside for the duration of class. Participants should bring their own tip-up to use during class. If this is preventing you from registering, please give us a call or email info@elyfolkschool.org. This class is open to any age and skill level. Participants under 16yrs old should be accompanied by an adult and have a strong desire to participate in class.

*Participants will meet at the Ely Folk School and drive to an off-site location nearby for class.
