The Ely Folk School is excited to announce year three of Kids Makers Morning! This program is suitable for children of pre-k and kindergarten age.

We are thrilled to welcome our youngest makers to the Folk School on Friday mornings from 9-11:30am throughout the summer. Preschool and Kindergarten aged children will embark on a process-based journey through the senses as they are invited to explore the wonders of painting, drawing, building, cooking, sewing, working with clay, experimenting with materials sourced from the natural world, storytelling and making friends! More details to come!

Youth will be able to take each week’s project at their own pace and will be given the freedom to express their creativity through any of our resources.

New this year: There will be two summer sessions with a break between. Families can register for one or both sessions and let the instrcuctor and EFS staff know if there are certain dates your child will be missing. This year we will cap the number of participants at 8. Please register in advance to ensure your child(ren) has a spot in the program! Registration will open on April 1, 2024.

About the Instructor: Jennifer Toddie

Jen Toddie lives with her family on a wooded homestead in Ely and delights in the magic of making with children! Working with kids from ages 3-18, she has been an educator for 30 years. She has taught middle and high school social studies, social and emotional wellness, yoga, reading, writing, preschool, and Elementary Montessori. What excites her the most is witnessing the joy kids experience when they experiment with their creative spirits, whether it be through handwork, cooking in the mud kitchen, growing a garden, storytelling, spending uninterrupted time in nature, building relationships, or creating crafts that connect them more deeply to themselves, the natural world and their community. Jen loves wilderness travel, practicing reiki and making herbal medicine. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to share wonder with your children this summer at the Ely Folk School!
