Tour our garden near Babbitt. See demonstrations of seeding crops directly into garden soil and transplanting seedlings. We will discuss options for watering infrastructure, weed control, and ensuring your plants get enough food over the growing season.

About the Instructor, Ellen Root: From 2014-2020 I co-owned Northern Delicious CSA, a 3-acre vegetable farm located near Babbitt, MN. At its peak the farm provided fresh, local, in-season vegetables and greens to over 100 local families and individuals through weekly Community Supported Agriculture share boxes and farmers market sales. I no longer farm on a large scale and instead enjoy gardening in smaller spaces. I start a wide variety of seeds indoors every spring, including garden vegetables, greens, and native perennial wildflowers and grasses.

Please sign up early. If we don't reach the minimum number of students, we may have to cancel the class. We do our best to balance the value of the instructor's time with student needs.
