You can grow delicious food and flowers in a Northern Minnesota garden! Learn methods that will improve your chances of gardening success this year. We will discuss selecting crops and varieties, soil amendments and bed preparation, and your questions about gardening in northern climates.
About the Instructor, Ellen Root: From 2014-2020 I co-owned Northern Delicious CSA, a 3-acre vegetable farm located near Babbitt, MN. At its peak the farm provided fresh, local, in-season vegetables and greens to over 100 local families and individuals through weekly Community Supported Agriculture share boxes and farmers market sales. I no longer farm on a large scale and instead enjoy gardening in smaller spaces. I start a wide variety of seeds indoors every spring, including garden vegetables, greens, and native perennial wildflowers and grasses.
